MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City, IA, is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support Endoscopy procedures, prep operating rooms, and assist the surgical team. The role includes verifying sites, assisting with patient transport, and maintaining sterile technique throughout operations.

Description:
What You Will Do:
Assist the surgical team in Endoscopy by preparing operating rooms and supporting procedures under the supervision of the circulating nurse
Verify correct surgical site, assist with patient transport as needed, and prepare the pre‑operative site
Review OR schedules, note changes to procedures, and gather required equipment, instruments, and supplies based on surgeon preference cards
Perform surgical scrub, don sterile gown and gloves, and participate in opening and maintaining the sterile field
Instrument surgical cases, pass instruments to surgeons, and anticipate needs to support uninterrupted procedures
Perform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts in accordance with policy
Assist with prepping and draping patients and gowning and gloving surgical team members
Prepare sterile dressings and ensure all equipment is functioning properly, reporting any malfunctions, and more.
Schedule:
Monday – Friday
8 hour shifts
Start and end times depend on department’s scheduled procedures
Start times between 6 am and 8 am
End times between 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm
Later starts on Thursdays
Minimal on "call" rotation dependent on department need, 30-minute response time.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology; completion of surgical tech apprenticeship or military program; graduate of an LPN program with Surgical experience; or equivalent experience to demonstrate competency.
CST certification preferred but not required in Iowa.
LPN license required if graduate of LPN program.
No prior experience required.
Previous endo/GI experience preferred.
