Job summary

North Mississippi Health Services in Amory, MS seeks an experienced Surgical Technician/Assistant to support operative teams in the sterile field. You will prepare procedures, assist surgeons under RN supervision, pass instruments, maintain counts, and help ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities include maintaining sterile technique, coordinating supplies, and participating in ongoing education and compliance with policies.

Responsibilities

• Uses procedure preference lists
• Selects & arranges supplies, instruments and equipment for surgical procedures
• Maintains sterile set for operation(s)
• Assists surgeon(s) by performing supervised (R.N.) duties
• Primary scrub person
• Passing instruments, sponges, sutures, catheters, drains and dressings
• Performs sponge, needle and instrument counts as specified by policy/procedure
• Assumes care of specimen until turned over to Registered Nurse
• Protects patients from potential injury and contamination of sterile field
• Restocks supplies
• Straightens operating room for next use
• Must be able to take primary call duties for their specialty (as assigned)
• Attends required in-services, annual review and educational programs
• Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines
• Complies with applicable Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statues
