Job summary

UF Health Jacksonville is seeking a Surgical Tech II to assist surgeons with instrumentation and sterile technique in procedures at UF Health North Hospital. The role includes patient care in clinical settings and responsibility for maintaining surgical instruments and equipment.

Primary duties emphasize adherence to AORN/AST standards, infection control, and teamwork while supporting efficient operating room turnover and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; graduate of surgical technologist program.
• Certification within 1 year of hire/transfer (NBSTSA, NCCT, or AST) and BLS.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon by providing basic instrumentation and sterile techniques.
• Care for basic surgical equipment and instrumentation per AAMI standards.
• Ensure safe patient care under licensed providers and RNs.
• Maintain instrument sterility and readiness before procedures.
• Anticipate supplies and instruments needed for procedures.
• Adhere to infection control and hospital policies.
