Job Summary: The Surgical Tech II facilitates patient care by assisting physicians/nursing staff before, during and after surgical procedures by creating and maintaining a sterile field and providing the instruments and supplies required by the surgeons in a sterile manner according to established plan for patient care with occasional guidance. Is able to perform competently most of the cases in a given service/shift.

Position Shift:

• Nights, OR Rooms have 10 or 12 hours shifts.
• Additional details to be discussed during interview.

Sign On Bonus: This full-time position offers a $20,000 (taxable) bonus to be paid over 2 years. Exclusions apply.

Relocation Bonus: Up to $10,000 (taxable), based on distance, paid within 45 days of hire. Eligibility requires relocating from over 100 miles away.

About Us: The Labor and Delivery unit at Vanderbilt University Hospital (VUH) in Nashville, TN, provides specialized care for high-risk pregnancies, known for critical thinking and compassion in obstetric emergencies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist surgeon before, during, and after procedures.
• Set up, perform, and clean up surgical procedures as a circulator and scrub tech.
• Perform counts and maintain sterile field principles.
• Additional duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an approved discipline-specific program or successful completion of a surgical technologist training program in the armed forces.
• Minimum 1 year relevant work experience.
• Certification from NBSTSA or NCCT required unless military-trained.

Technical Capabilities: Knowledge of procedures, equipment, OR care, environmental sterility, inventory management, surgical technology, and equipment maintenance at a fundamental or novice level.
