Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program.
• Certification as Surgical Technician by a recognized board and BLS certification are required.
• Must obtain BLS within ninety days of employment; certification by NBST or NCCT preferred.

Role Overview: This position supports surgical teams by performing specialized technical duties in the operating or procedural environment, ensuring a safe and efficient setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing for patient procedures by arranging instruments, supplies, and ensuring equipment functionality.
• Maintain proper functioning of surgical instruments and supplies during procedures.
• Ensure a sterile environment, label and dispatch medications and solutions per protocols.
• Participate in specimen management, correctly identifying and forwarding specimens.
• Prepare equipment and supplies, perform counts, and manage time efficiently.
• Attend meetings and in-services, follow schedules, and perform duties to enhance patient satisfaction.
• Adhere to infection control policies, OSHA, and regulatory standards for a safe workplace.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational excellence.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program.
• Preferred experience includes at least one year as a Surgical Technician.
• Required certifications include Surgical Technician certification by a recognized board and Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Must possess certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology or the National Center for Competency Testing, or military/public health program (only one required).
• Must obtain BLS certification within ninety days of employment.
