Harrison County Hospital is seeking an experienced Surgical Tech for a full-time role. The position is Monday through Friday, 36 hours per week with call.

Under supervision of the Surgery Nurse, you assist in patient care in the Surgery Department and help prepare and maintain sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment. You will serve as scrub assistant and help with set-up and break-down of the operating room.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certification as surgical technologist or completion of an accredited surgical technology program, or appropriate education/experience as determined by the hospital.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the care of patients in the Surgery Department.
• Prepare and maintain sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment.
• Serve as scrub assistant to the doctor and help set up and break down the operating room.
• Must be emotionally stable, accurate and flexible in interactions.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• One of the following: Certification as surgical technologist, One year previous experience as Surgery Technician, completion of an accredited surgical technology program, or appropriate abilities and education as determined by the hospital, such as LPN, RN, etc.

The Surgery Technician/Sterile Processing Tech, under the supervision and direction of the Surgery Nurse, assists in the care of patients in the Surgery Department. He/she assists in the care, preparation and maintenance of sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment. He/she functions as scrub assistant to the doctor and helps in the set-up and break down of the operating room. He/she should be emotionally stable and mature, accurate, and flexible in his/her dealings with other people.
