Job summary

East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro, GA seeks a Surgical Technician First Assist to support surgeons during procedures, maintain a sterile field, prepare instruments, retract tissue, control bleeding, and assist in wound closure to help ensure optimal outcomes.

The role requires 1–3 years of acute care experience and CST certification with CSFA or CSA credentials; Basic Life Support is required and ACLS preferred.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience as a Surgical Technician in an acute care setting.
• Proficiency in instrument handling and sterile technique.
• Ability to assist with exposure, suctioning, and wound closure.

Responsibilities

• Scrub role during procedures; prepare sterile supplies and organize sterile field.
• Provide first assistant duties: exposure, retractors, suction, and sponging as directed.
• Dissect tissues, clamp vessels, coagulate bleeding, place drains.
• Assist with wound closure and dressing.
• Ensure sterility and safety; perform counts with RN circulator; follow infection control.
• Prepare and transport instruments for decontamination.
• Assist in post-procedure room turnover.
• Maintain regular attendance and comply with all policies.
