Job summary

UofL Health in Louisville, KY is seeking a Surgical Technician to support the operating room team under the supervision of the RN. You will prepare sterile fields, pass instruments, and help maintain aseptic technique throughout procedures.

The role requires strong attention to detail, BLS certification, and the ability to work collaboratively with surgeons, nurses, and staff. Prior patient care experience is preferred; hospital-based training is valued.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent (required).
• Graduation from an accredited surgical technologist program (preferred).
• Completion of a UofL Health Surgical Technologist training program (preferred).
• Completion of hospital based surgical technologist training program.
• Graduates of a military training program in surgical technology.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operative area, drapes sterile field and maintains aseptic environment.
• Passes instruments, sponges and sutures to surgeon and assistants, counts needles and instruments.
• Receives and handles surgical specimens as directed by surgeon.
• Prepares operating room for cases and assists with room turnover.
• Reprocesses and stores instruments and equipment.
