Job summary

NorthShore University HealthSystem is seeking a Certified Surgical Tech for the Operating Room in Arlington Heights, IL. The role supports the main OR with day shifts, full-time status, and weekend coverage as needed.

You will prepare instrumentation, assist surgeons, and ensure a safe, efficient environment for diverse patient populations. Qualified candidates will have graduated from an approved surgical technology program, hold current CPR certification from the American Heart Association,

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved surgical technology program.
• Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
• Previous experience in surgery or on-the-job experience.
• Certification in surgical technology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identifies and obtains the required surgical instrumentation, equipment and supplies required for surgical procedures based on physicians request and the needs of patient; exchanges drug trays as needed under the direction of licensed medical staff.
• Performs scrub responsibilities according to physician's preference and hospital policies and procedures. Anticipates, and is attentive to, the surgeon's needs for instruments, ligatures, sponges, irrigation, etc. during the surgical procedure.
• Demonstrates the skills necessary to provide a safe environment and communicate effectively with all age groups of patients - pediatric through geriatric.
