Job summary

Valleywise Health is seeking a Cardiovascular Surgical Technologist to strengthen a high-acuity surgical team in Phoenix, AZ. This role focuses on mastering the sterile field and supporting advanced cardiovascular procedures in a fast-paced operating room.

You will anticipate instrument needs, manage complex equipment, and collaborate with surgeons to ensure safety and efficiency in life-saving cardiac care. Certification and BLS are required, with clinic fingerprinting processes as applicable.

Qualifications

  • Requires High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1-2 years CVOR surgical technologist experience.
  • CST or TS-C certification required and must be maintained.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • Ambulatory Clinics: fingerprint clearance card or eligible process.

Responsibilities

  • Master the sterile field from setup through close with flawless technique.
  • Anticipate and manage advanced instruments, equipment, and technology.
  • Support high-acuity thoracic, major vascular, and cardiovascular procedures including bypass and assist devices.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to maximize efficiency and patient outcomes.

What You'll Do
  • Master the Sterile Field: Own your environment by ensuring flawless sterile techniques and safety compliance from setup to close.
  • Anticipate Every Move: Keep our surgeons one step ahead by intuitively preparing and managing advanced instruments, equipment, and technology.
  • Drive Complex Care: Jump into the action on high-acuity thoracic, major vascular, and cardiovascular procedures—including cases involving cardiopulmonary bypass and cardiac assistive devices.
  • Elevate Team Performance: Collaborate seamlessly with an elite surgical team to ensure maximum procedural efficiency and optimal patient outcomes.

Hourly Pay Range: $31.58 - $46.58

Qualifications
Education:

Requires a High School Diploma or GED.

Experience:

Requires a minimum of 1-2 years CVOR surgical technologist experience.

Certification/Licensure:

Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) is required and must be maintained.

Must have Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.

Ambulatory Clinics: Must have a valid fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or submit a completed Affidavit at time of hire. Must complete fingerprint clearance card application within seven (7) days of hire date. Must present actual card within 90 days of applying for fingerprint clearance card.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.

Requires specialized knowledge and skills of OR practices.

Utilizes effective communication and interpersonal skills to enhance and encourage collaborative staff and community relationships.

Must be able to lead and mentor other staff.

Must be able to respond quickly and must be familiar with operating procedures in order to have instruments ready for surgeons without having to be told.
