Description:Unit contains 10 operating rooms and one procedure room.Average number of cases per day is 30-35.Common cases include 65% orthopedic surgeries.Experience in neuro surgery focuses primarily on disc surgery.Robotic surgery and urology/vascular/GYN/eyes are not included in this role.Responsibilities include pulling equipment for cases.Shifts may be scheduled as 5-8 hour shifts or 4-10 hour shifts, starting at 07:00 or 07:30.Surgeons may work in two rooms.There is a board runner in the role of charge nurse on each shift.Floats to sterile processing are rare.Scrub color and dress code are provided.Cap may be worn if laundered properly; disposable covering required for implant cases.Unit-specific orientation is dependent on traveler experience.Candidates must meet one of the following options for certification:Active surgical technologist certification from NBSTSA.Graduation from a CAAHEP accredited program.Completion of a military surgical technology program.Those working under options 2 or 3 shall complete 15 hours of healthcare-related CEUs annually.Cancellation policy requires 14-day written notice.Charting is performed through paper documentation.BSN is not required.Trauma level and care setting are outpatient.
