Description:The Surgical Technologist maintains sterile conditions.They anticipate the needs of the surgical team.They ensure that all instruments and supplies are available and properly handled.This role is the first level in the Surgical Technologist career ladder.Provide safe, efficient, age-specific nursing care to patients and families.Utilize nursing interventions to assist patients in attaining, maintaining, regaining, and sustaining optimal health status.Function in a primary scrub position.Assist with technical responsibilities in assigned operative procedures.Ensure appropriate instruments and supplies are present and in proper working condition.Provide labeled medications with correct doses on the sterile field.Support the operative team and follow patient care hand-off protocols.Actively participate in the quality improvement process.Engage in learning and self-improvement activities.Perform other duties as assigned.Comply with all policies and standards.Abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for patients.Annual training and policies and procedures regarding the appropriate use of PHI are required in the workplace.Physical demands include frequently standing, walking, lifting, and carrying up to 50 lbs.Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching are occasionally required.Continuous coordination of eye, hand, and foot is necessary.Good communication and teamwork are essential.
