Job summary

Holy Cross Hospital - Jordan Valley in Utah seeks a Certified Surgical Tech to assist surgeons and RNs, ensuring the OR remains organized, sterile, and ready for safe, efficient surgeries.

You will arrange and inventory sterile instruments, pass items to surgeons, and help prepare/move patients, while sterilizing and cleaning between cases. Certification, attention to detail, calmness, and clear communication are essential in this fast-paced team environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program.
• Current BLS through the American Heart Association.
• NBSTSA or NCCT certification as Surgical Tech.
• Colorado DORA surgical tech registration for Colorado associates.

Responsibilities

• Maintain sterile technique and verify package integrity throughout procedures.
• Perform counts with circulator before incision and as needed.
• Prepare back table and mayo stand per surgeon's preference cards.
• Set up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment and meds.
• Provide on-call coverage outside standard hours per policy.
• Anticipate issues and assist with emergent changes during cases.

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Certified Surgical Tech, you will work under the supervision of the surgeon and RN, bringing your certified expertise to keep the operating room organized, sterile, and ready for safe, efficient surgical procedures.

Every day, you will arrange and inventory sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical cases, passing items to surgeons and nurses as needed throughout the procedure. You will also assist in preparing and moving patients, along with sterilizing and cleaning instruments, equipment, and rooms between cases.

To be successful in this role, you will need current surgical technology certification, strong attention to detail, solid knowledge of sterile technique, and the ability to stay calm and communicate effectively as part of a fast-paced surgical team.

• Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure by checking package integrity, indicators and opening procedures.
• Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation, before incision is closed and as needed.
• Prepare back table and mayo stand anticipating needs of the surgeon and through the use of the surgeon’s preference card.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure.
• Provides on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours per department and/or facility policy.
• Anticipates possible problems or complications that could arise during case. Adjusts quickly and prepares for emergent cases that change workflow.

Job Requirements

Required

• High School Diploma/G.E.D.
• Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program.
• Current Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association
• Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado.
• A person performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another Colorado license, certification, or registration does not need to register as a Surgical Tech.
• Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

Preferred

• One (1) year of experience in a surgical setting
• Experience in a specialty field

Pay Range

$26.37 - $39.90 /hour
