Job summary

Mercy Medical Center Redding is seeking a Surgical Tech to help prep the operating room and team for a variety of surgical procedures. You will set up equipment, assist the surgical team, and maintain a sterile environment to support patient healing.

Ideal candidates have one year of acute care OR scrub tech experience and CPR certification; a diploma or GED is required, with preferred accredited surgical technology training and CST certification.

Qualifications

• One year recent experience in acute care as an operating room scrub tech.
• Basic Life Support - CPR (American Heart Association) required on hire.
• Preferred: graduate of an accredited surgical technology program; CST or equivalent certification (optional).

Responsibilities

• Passes instruments, sponges and sutures as a scrubbed member of the surgical team.
• Assist in assembling, preparing, cleaning, adjusting and storing surgical equipment and supplies.
• Set up each case and position equipment for specific surgeries.
• Scrub in and prepare for each case.
• Order and maintain supplies in the department.
• Assist in basic patient care duties such as vital signs and hygiene.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Surgical Tech, you will help prepare the operating room and surgical team so they can successfully perform a variety of surgical procedures for patients.

Every day you will set up surgical equipment and instruments, assist the surgical team, and ensure a sterile environment. You will be expected to adapt quickly, collaborate effectively within the OR team, and contribute directly to the patient's healing process.

To be successful in this role, you must possess adaptability, a strong team-player mindset, and enthusiasm for supporting complex surgical procedures.

• Assists the surgeon as a scrubbed member of the team by passing instruments, sponges and sutures
• Assists in assembling, preparing, cleaning, adjusting and storing equipment and supplies used in surgeries
• Assists in setting up each case and positions furniture and equipment in operating rooms appropriate to specific surgeries, which includes picking instruments and suture for each case
• Scrubs in and allows adequate time to prepare for each case
• Orders and maintains supplies and stocks supplies in the department as appropriate
• Performs duties of unit coordinators and assists in basic patient care duties such as vital signs and basic hygiene care

Job Requirements

Required

• High School Graduate General Studies and One year recent experience in acute care as an operating room scrub tech , upon hire or
• High School GED General Studies and One year recent experience in acute care as an operating room scrub tech , upon hire and
• Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire and (Must be through the American Heart Association)

Preferred

• Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology and Recent experience as a scrub tech in OBOR and nursing assistant or unit secretary experience, upon hire
• Certified Surgical Technologist, upon hire or
• Technologist in Surgery-Certified, upon hire
