Job summary

CommonSpirit Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to prepare the operating room and assist the surgical team across a variety of procedures. You will set up instruments, ensure sterility, and support patient care in a fast-paced OR environment.

Requirements include 1 year OR experience, completion of a Surgical Technician program, and CPR/BLS certification upon hire. This is a full-time, on-site position at Northridge Hospital Medical Center.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate with at least 1 year of operating room experience in an acute care setting.
  • Successful completion of an accredited/approved Surgical Technician program or equivalent combination of education/experience, upon hire.
  • Fire Safety within 90 days and Basic Life Support - CPR upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to established hospital/departmental policies and procedures, objectives, QA/QI programs, infection control standards, and patient rights.
  • Identifies and prepares appropriate instrumentation, supplies, and equipment for identified surgical procedures.
  • Maintains and monitors aseptic technique.
  • Assists the surgical team during operating procedures as appropriate.
  • Maintains and cares for equipment and supplies; documents maintenance and repairs.
  • Provides comfort and support for operative patients and protects patient privacy.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Surgical Tech, you will help prepare the operating room and surgical team so they can successfully perform a variety of surgical procedures for patients. Every day, you will set up surgical equipment and instruments, assist the surgical team, and ensure a sterile environment. You will be expected to adapt quickly, collaborate effectively within the OR team, and contribute directly to the patient's healing process. To be successful in this role, you must possess adaptability, a strong team-player mindset, and enthusiasm for supporting complex surgical procedures.



  • Adheres to established Hospital/departmental policies and procedures, objectives, Quality Assessment and Improvement Program, Infection Assessment and Improvement Program, legal, safety, environmental control standards, and Patient's Bill of Rights.

  • Identifies and prepares appropriate instrumentation, supplies, and equipment based on identified surgical procedures.

  • Maintains and monitors aseptic technique.

  • Assists the surgical team during operating procedures as appropriate.

  • Maintains and cares for equipment and supplies. Documents maintenance and repairs.

  • Provides comfort and support for operative patients. Demonstrates sensitivity to patients' care and privacy.


This position is represented by SEIU-UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

  • High School Graduate, General Studies, and Minimum (1) year of operating room experience in an acute care setting

  • Successful completion of an accredited/approved Surgical Technician program or equivalent combination of education/experience, upon hire

  • Fire Safety, within 90 Days and

  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
