Job summary

Duke Raleigh Hospital, part of the Duke University Health System, is seeking a Surgical Attendant to support patient care and transport under RN supervision. The role involves assisting in preparation for procedures, moving patients, and maintaining equipment and supplies in a fast-paced surgical unit.

Shifts run 11:00am-9:00pm, 4-10 hour shifts per week, with duties designed to ensure patient safety and efficiency in care delivery.

Qualifications

• Six months experience in a hospital setting or equivalent.
• Partial high school education or equivalent.
• Current BCLS certification.
• Basic mechanical knowledge for assembly of equipment.
• Knowledge of sterile technique.
• Ability to lift, stand, walk for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient location and identification.
• Assist in patient transport and positioning.
• Communicate with patients and respond to needs.
• Assist in orienting new staff and equipment preparation.
• Provide emergency assistance as required by surgical team.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas in operating and support spaces.
