Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Surgical Stepdown unit to provide comprehensive post-surgical care. You will monitor vitals, telemetry, and administer medications while managing wounds and drains in collaboration with physicians and therapists.

You will educate patients and families, participate in developing individualized care plans, and support safe discharge with a focus on compassionate, team-based care and ongoing clinical education opportunities.

Qualifications

• Active Missouri RN license or eligible
• Experience in surgical step-down or telemetry nursing preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills

Responsibilities

• Provide complex post-surgical care and close monitoring of vitals and telemetry
• Administer medications and manage wounds and drains per physician orders
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and staff to implement individualized care plans
• Educate patients and families about procedures, care plans and discharge instructions
• Support safe discharge planning and patient transitions
