Job summary

Chesapeake Regional Healthcare seeks a Physician–Surgeon to deliver high-quality surgical care for adult patients within our surgical services division. You will oversee diagnosis, operative care, and postoperative follow-up while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to advance patient safety and outcomes.

The role requires completion of an accredited surgical residency, board certification or eligibility, and an active Virginia license.

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of an accredited surgical residency program.
• Board certification or eligibility in the relevant surgical specialty.
• Active or eligible Virginia medical license.
• Current DEA registration or ability to obtain.
• Proficiency in a full range of surgical procedures including minimally invasive and robotic approaches.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and leadership skills with teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Perform surgical procedures including laparoscopic, robotic, and open surgeries.
• Provide pre-operative consultation and evaluate medical history.
• Collaborate with anesthesia and care teams to develop peri-operative plans.
• Manage post-operative care, monitor recovery, and discharge planning.
• Participate in on-call coverage as required.
• Maintain EMR documentation and adhere to policies.
• Contribute to quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
• Engage in professional development and stay current with advances in surgery.
• Support practice management responsibilities as needed.
