Job summary

Wesley Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, seeks an RN for Surgical Services PRN in Wichita, KS. You will assess patients before surgery, educate families, and lead preoperative preparation including IV therapy and medications to ensure safe, efficient workflows.

You will participate in universal protocols, identify emergencies, and collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and techs to improve patient care and outcomes. BLS and RN licensure are required.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing.
• BLS certification within 30 days of start date.
• RN Diploma required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patient for surgery, including IV therapy and preoperative meds.
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practices.
• Work with an interdisciplinary team including providers and surgical staff.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to safe care.
• Monitor patient condition and document changes accurately.
• Educate patients and families about medical condition, treatment and follow-up.
