Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Health in Fayetteville, NC seeks a Surgical Technologist to serve as the scrub technologist in the surgical suite, supporting patient care under the guidance of the Registered Nurse and within the facility's policies.

Responsibilities include aseptic technique, instrument prep, patient transport, and collaboration with the surgical team. A high school diploma is required; CAHEA-accredited Surgical Technologist training is preferred, and 1 year of experience is desirable.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Completion of Surgical Technologist Course from an Accredited CAHEA Program preferred.
• 1 year experience as a surgical technologist preferred.
• Reads, writes, and speaks English.

Responsibilities

• Knows and follows aseptic techniques when performing scrub duties and support duties for the department.
• Performs scrub duties as assigned in service areas.
• Assists in carrying out the patient's plan of care within the scope of practice of the surgical technologists.
• Access to medication/supply room to retrieve patient care items.
• Transports and/or escorts patients to various areas.
• Assists with the maintenance, selection and preparation of instruments, equipment and supplies necessary to maintain a state of readiness for operative cases.
• Fosters guest relations within the team and with patients and families.
• Maintains confidentiality of all patient information.
• Supports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of the plan of care.
• Adjusts patient care based on the age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of patients.
• Participates in educational and performance improvement activities.
• Other duties as assigned
