Summary of Job Duties: The Orthopedic & Spine Hospital (TOSH), UAMS Health’s new surgical hospital, seeks passionate operating room surgical scrub technicians to join a team redefining quality care.

The Surgical Technician will assemble supplies for surgical procedures, set up and maintain the sterile field, pass surgical instruments, and assist in room preparation. This role requires coordinating care for surgical cases, working with surgeons, nurses, and team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes, and effective communication.

As part of the TOSH team, operating room scrub technicians focus on attention to detail, excellence, patient safety, and evidence-based practice, operating at a higher level of practice. If you have current Operating Room experience, consider a career with UAMS Health.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School GED or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited Scrub Technologist program, military surgical tech training, or 2 years of surgical technologist experience.
  • Ability to follow oral instructions, read, and write.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Scrub Tech Certification
  • 1 year Operating Room experience (preferred in Orthopedics)
  • Orthopedic experience (preferred)

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Assess surgical procedures.
  • Ensure availability of instrumentation, supplies, and equipment.
  • Prepare the OR.
  • Ensure the room is ready for upcoming cases.
  • Maintain and transport instruments according to policy.
  • Assist with instrument reprocessing.
  • Prepare case-ready operating rooms.
  • Maintain knowledge of OR equipment, safety, and maintenance.
  • Demonstrate professional performance, teamwork, and communication.
  • Attend educational offerings and incorporate new knowledge into practice.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Information: Commensurate with education and experience.
