Job summary

Citrus Heights Surgery Center in Citrus Heights, CA is seeking a full-time Surgical Scrub Technician to support the operating room team. You will maintain sterile field, anticipate needs, and ensure readiness of supplies.

Reporting to Clinical Director/Administrator, you will safeguard sterile technique, assist the circulating nurse, count sponges and instruments, and handle specimens, contributing to safe and efficient procedures.

Qualifications

• One year experience as a Scrub Tech in multiple specialties or equivalent education/experience.
• Able to handle concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Familiarity with medical terminology related to anatomy and surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain sterile field during setup of surgical procedures.
• Assist circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining sterility.
• Gather necessary surgical supplies and equipment.
• Count sponges, needles, and instruments pre- and intra-operatively with the circulating nurse.
• Retain specimens for pathology, confirming source with the surgeon.
• Adhere to universal precautions, hand hygiene, PPE, and safety practices.

Surgical Scrub Technician (FT)

Anticipates the needs of the surgical team. Establishes and maintains sterile field during surgical procedures in the operating room. Reporting relationship: reports to Clinical Director/Administrator.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensures sterility of all supplies and instruments during set up of surgical procedures.
• Assists circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining sterile environment.
• Assists circulating nurse in gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment.
• Responsible for doing sponge, needle, and instrument count pre‑operatively and intra‑operatively with the circulating nurse.
• Retains all specimens to be sent to pathology, confirming source/name of specimen with surgeon.
• Uses standard universal precautions, appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment.
• Follows all equipment and safety guidelines and is responsible for knowledgeable use and care of equipment.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• One year experience as a Scrub Tech in multiple specialties or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Able to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• General familiarity with medical terminology as it pertains to anatomy and surgical procedures for an operating room.

Salary range: $38.03 - $47.54 per hour. Wages are determined based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience.
