Job summary

Trinity Health's St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, PA invites an experienced Surgical Technician (OR Tech) to join our operating room team. Under supervision of an OR Registered Nurse, you assist in providing nursing care and maintaining sterile technique during procedures.

You will scrub, gown, and pass instrumentation aseptically, help position patients, prepare supplies, and ensure equipment is properly maintained. Commitment to patient safety and teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalency required.
• Certified Surgical Technician certification required.
• 1-2 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Scrub, gown, and gloving with sterile technique and pass instrumentation aseptically.
• Assist in transfer and positioning of patients.
• Maintain sterile field and organize room supplies.
• Collaborate with circulating nurse in room preparation and equipment management.
• Ensure equipment/instrumentation are in proper functional condition.
• Respond to emergencies and prioritize patient needs.

The Surgical Technician (OR TECH) under the supervision of an Operating Room Registered Nurse, assists in providing nursing care to a designated population in collaboration with the members of the health care team.

• Applies scientific principles in adhering to sterile technique (gowning, gloving, draping etc.

• demonstrates proper scrubbing skills, handles, and passes instrumentation utilizing aseptic technique and can anticipate patient and surgeon needs.

• Assists in transfer and positioning of patients.

• Collaborates with circulating nurse in room preparation, selecting supplies, and equipment is organized fashion.

• Creates, maintains, and monitors the sterile field continuously.

• Takes responsibility for maintaining equipment and instrumentation in proper functional condition.

• Assess and responds appropriately in an emergency situation to prioritize and meets the patients’ immediate needs.

• Acts as a patient advocate and protect the patient’s rights through safe and ethical practice.

• Demonstrates safe, proper, and appropriate use of sterilizers.

Minimum Qualifications:

HS Diploma or equivalency

Certified Surgical Technician

1-2 years experience
