The Surgical Technician (OR TECH) under the supervision of an Operating Room Registered Nurse, assists in providing nursing care to a designated population in collaboration with the members of the health care team.
Applies scientific principles in adhering to sterile technique (gowning, gloving, draping etc.
demonstrates proper scrubbing skills, handles, and passes instrumentation utilizing aseptic technique and can anticipate patient and surgeon needs.
Assists in transfer and positioning of patients.
Collaborates with circulating nurse in room preparation, selecting supplies, and equipment is organized fashion.
Creates, maintains, and monitors the sterile field continuously.
Takes responsibility for maintaining equipment and instrumentation in proper functional condition.
Assess and responds appropriately in an emergency situation to prioritize and meets the patients’ immediate needs.
Acts as a patient advocate and protect the patient’s rights through safe and ethical practice.
Demonstrates safe, proper, and appropriate use of sterilizers.
HS Diploma or equivalency
