Job summary

Folsom Surgery Center is hiring a Surgical Scrub Tech to support the operating room team in maintaining a sterile environment and preparing supplies. The role reports to the Clinical Director/Administrator and requires vigilance in safety practices.

Qualifications

• One year experience as a Scrub Tech in multiple specialties or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Able to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• General familiarity with medical terminology as it pertains to anatomy and surgical procedures for an operating room.

Responsibilities

• Ensures sterility of supplies and instruments during setup.
• Assists circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining sterile environment.
• Assists circulating nurse in gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment.
• Counts sponges, needles, and instruments pre- and intra-operatively with the circulating nurse.
• Retains specimens to be sent to pathology and confirms source/name with surgeon.
• Uses Universal Precautions and PPE to ensure personal safety and a safe environment.
• Follows equipment and safety guidelines and cares for equipment.

Surgical Scrub Tech at Folsom Surgery Center

Anticipates the needs of the surgical team. Establishes and maintains sterile field during surgical procedures in the operating room. Reporting Relationship: Reports to Clinical Director/Administrator.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensures sterility of all supplies and instruments during set up of surgical procedures.
• Assists circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining sterile environment.
• Assists circulating nurse in gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment.
• Responsible for doing sponge, needle, and instrument count pre-operatively and intra-operative with the circulating nurse.
• Retains all specimens to be sent to pathology, confirming source/name of specimen with surgeon.
• Uses Standard Universal Precautions, appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment.
• Follows all equipment and safety guidelines and is responsible for knowledgeable use and care of equipment.

Salary Range

$26.00 - $40.00/hr. Wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience.
