Job summary

Abington Memorial Hospital in Willow Grove, PA is seeking a Surgical Scheduler to professionally schedule inpatient and outpatient procedures, enhancing the Jefferson Experience through prompt, courteous patient service. The role emphasizes accurate insurance coordination and adherence to privacy standards.

The Scheduler will perform pre-procedure calls, confirm times, and provide necessary instructions, working within a team that supports the Jefferson Health system across the Philadelphia

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to provide a positive Jefferson Experience to patients and visitors; capable of multitasking in a time-sensitive environment.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with patients, visitors and staff in a courteous, professional manner.
• Collects and reviews patient insurance information, obtains prior authorizations and referrals as needed.
• Completes pre-procedure calls and confirms appointment times with patients.
• Provides pre-operative instructions to patients.
• Ensures HIPAA privacy and security compliance and adherence to regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.

The Surgical Scheduler enhances the patient/customer experience by courteously and professionally scheduling inpatient/outpatient procedures and/or surgeries. The Surgical Scheduler supports delivery of the Jefferson Experience by placing emphasis on the prompt and courteous treatment of all patients.

Job Duties

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.(Do not delete, move or over-write this statement)
• Collect and review patient insurance information to include but not limited to: obtaining prior authorizations (inpatient and outpatient) and referral information and ensure all necessary approvals are in place prior to the scheduled surgical procedure.
• Completes pre-procedure phone calls and confirms appointment times with patients via telephone.
• Provides patient with all necessary pre-operative instructions.
• Adheres to HIPAA privacy and security requirements. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory standards.
• Other duties as requested or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• Excellent communication skills.
• Willingness to provide and support a positive Jefferson Experience for all patients and/or visitors. Ability to process and interpret data. Ability to multi task while managing a time sensitive workload.

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
