Job summary

Jefferson Health in Sewell and Turnersville, NJ seeks a Surgical Scheduler to coordinate inpatient and outpatient procedures, delivering a courteous patient experience and supporting the Jefferson Experience.

Responsibilities include collecting and reviewing insurance information, obtaining authorizations, confirming times, providing pre-operative instructions, and maintaining HIPAA compliance while handling a time-sensitive workload. Some remote days may follow a 90-day probation.

Job Details

Full-time Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm. Most office days will be in office located in Sewell, NJ and Turnersville, NJ. Candidate will be able to work remote for some days after completing the 90-day probationary period.

The Surgical Scheduler enhances the patient/customer experience by courteously and professionally scheduling inpatient/outpatient procedures and/or surgeries. The Surgical Scheduler supports delivery of the Jefferson Experience by placing emphasis on the prompt and courteous treatment of all patients.

Job Description

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
• Collect and review patient insurance information to include but not limited to: obtaining prior authorizations (inpatient and outpatient) and referral information and ensure all necessary approvals are in place prior to the scheduled surgical procedure.
• Completes pre-procedure phone calls and confirms appointment times with patients via telephone.
• Provides patient with all necessary pre-operative instructions.
• Adheres to HIPAA privacy and security requirements. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory standards.
• Other duties as requested or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.

Salary Range

$17.78 to $25.33 Hourly The actual hiring rate will be determined based on candidate experience, skills and qualifications. This position is not eligible for an annual incentive.
