Position Overview

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Collaborates with OR and GI Endoscopy Unit to schedule cases, negotiating date and time, and avoiding resource conflicts. Coordinates special procedure needs with relevant departments and external resources.
  2. Gathers complete patient and procedure information. Schedules procedures and tests timely.
  3. Prepares and distributes schedules within established time frames. Works closely with physicians and office staff to optimize scheduling and utilization.
  4. Obtains pre-certification and authorizations from insurance carriers to facilitate maximum utilization and minimize issues. Completes referrals and pre-certifications as per insurance requirements.
  5. Assists co-workers during periods of increased patient activity.
  6. Works independently to ensure prompt patient service, both via phone and at the front desk. Oversees registration, checkout, and medical records handling for efficient patient flow.
  7. Reviews routine issues with physicians, handles patient problems/complaints promptly, and refers complex cases to the Director/Manager.
  8. Performs medical receptionist duties: answering calls, scheduling, filing, checking in/out patients, collecting payments, and managing related documentation. Communicates follow-up care/reminder details to patients.
  9. Oversees medical records filing, chart preparation, and purging according to protocol.
  10. Plans daily schedules to maximize physician productivity and coordinates other physician activities with departments.
  11. Coordinates hospital patient activity for doctors and billing.
  12. Works with providers to implement scheduling to ensure maximum productivity and resource availability (e.g., exam rooms, equipment).
  13. Collaborates with physicians and management to develop and grow the practice within the community.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least one year of experience in a medical office or hospital setting

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Frequent physical demands include: sitting, wrist movements, fine motor activities, keyboard use, talking, hearing.
  • Occasional physical demands include: standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, carrying objects, pushing/pulling, twisting, bending, reaching, squatting/kneeling/crawling.
  • Continuous physical demands include lifting 15 lbs. from floor to waist and 10 lbs. at waist level or above.
  • Sensory requirements include accurate near and far vision, color discrimination, depth perception, and hearing.

Offers are contingent upon successful onboarding and a pre-employment physical. An annual flu vaccine is required unless exempted for medical or religious reasons.
