Job summary

AdventHealth is seeking a dedicated Scheduling Specialist to coordinate surgery calendars and patient information. The role involves collecting demographics, insurance data, and clinical details to schedule, cancel, or reschedule procedures with minimal disruption. Strong communication with patients, staff, and physicians is essential.

Experience in an EHR environment and proficiency with Microsoft Office are required. A High School diploma is required, with 3+ years in healthcare preferred.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of Electronic Health Record (EHR) scheduling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patients for surgeries and handle facility paperwork.

• Coordinate with physicians and office staff to schedule surgeries and add-on cases.
• Respond to inquiries about scheduling and send reservations within set timeframes.

Job Description:

• Schedules patients for surgery and completes facility paperwork.
• Obtains necessary scheduling, demographic, insurance, and clinical information to schedule, cancel, or reschedule events with minimal call transfers or callbacks.
• Schedules surgeries with physicians and physician office staff using the method designated by the facility.
• Calls designated departments with information for add-on cases if patients are not yet admitted to the hospital and prepares and sends reservations for each case scheduled within established timeframes.
• Responds to multiple inquiries from telephone, intercom, and direct communication regarding scheduling of surgery and the main operating room suite.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals [Required]
• Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the health care industry [Required]
• Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English [Required]
• Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]
• Ability to document accurately and concisely [Required]
