Intuitive Surgical, Inc. is seeking a Reinforcement Learning Intern to contribute to developing and evaluating RL algorithms for supervised autonomy in our robotic system domain.

The intern will work with data from our surgical robot, aiming to move research into real-time control when possible. Candidates should be enrolled in an engineering/robotics/CS program at the doctoral level, and be available for a 10-12 week full-time internship starting in May or June.

Formación

• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited degree-seeking program and planning to continue after internship.
• Available to work full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) for 10-12 weeks starting May or June.

Responsabilidades

• Collect tele-operated simulation or real data from the surgical robot during exercises such as Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery.
• Train RL algorithms on trajectory data and benchmark against established metrics.
• Adapt RL methods to the surgical domain and identify ways to improve performance over off-the-shelf models.
• Recommend an algorithm/experimental setup for future work and present findings to the team.
• Deploy the chosen RL algorithm in simulation or on the dV5 to validate real-time performance.
