Overview

Join a dynamic and expanding Cardiovascular Surgery Program in Bloomington, where we are committed to delivering exceptional care to our community. With two experienced cardiovascular surgeons currently on staff and a third joining in October 2025, our program is rapidly growing and evolving to include advanced robotic cardiac procedures by the end of the year.

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)with at least 2 years of experience, preferably in cardiovascular surgery. The ideal candidate will be a proactive team player who thrives in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment and is passionate about advancing surgical care.

Schedule: 4 10's - Monday-Friday from 7:00am-5:30pm (Days vary based on rotation)
Call Requirement: Every other weekend of call starting Friday 5:30pm-Monday 7:00am. Two days of call through the week 5:30pm-7:00am.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in cardiovascular surgical procedures including but not limited to:
  • Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
  • Aortic and Mitral Valve Replacements (AVR, MVR)
  • Pericardial Window
  • Thoracotomy
  • Robotic Lung Procedures
  • (Future) Robotic Cardiac Procedures
• Prepare and maintain the sterile field in the CVOR.
• Ensure proper handling and availability of surgical instruments and supplies.
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, RNs, anesthesiologists, and other team members.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and safety standards.

Requirements:

• Requires a High School Diploma/GED.
• Requires certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist obtained from the NBSTSA.
• Requires Basic Life Support Certification.
• Requires 17 continuing education units annually.
• Requires successful completion of Perioperative Services Preceptor class and/or completion of 4 precepting eLMS modules and/or facility based preceptor training.
• Requires a minimum of 1 year experience in the Skilled Technologist role or relevant experience.
• Must be able to resource to other staff who are utilizing advanced technology in cases, including knowledge of the types of instruments utilized, what cases utilize different technologies, etc.
• Requires knowledge of name and function of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
• Requires strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of sterile field.
• Requires completion of application and recommendations as prescribed in Advancement Process.
