Job summary

The University of Iowa seeks a Research Support Manager for the Department of Surgery on the UI Main Campus. The role oversees pre- and post-grant processes, manages sponsor-funded and internal research projects, and provides supervision to lab staff and research support personnel.

You will collaborate with the Vice Chairs to administer residency programs, coordinate training grants, and support annual budgetary and compliance activities across sponsored funds.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or related area.
• Minimum of three years of accounting experience.
• Minimum of three years of grants administration experience.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
• Knowledge of finance and accounting practices and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Identifies trends and determines priorities for the Department of Surgery.
• Develops and monitors financial plans.
• Reviews and approves grant budgets and proposals.
• Supervises and leads departmental research team and staff.
• Advises departmental leaders on policies to streamline grant processes.
