Job summary

Henry Ford Health in Michigan is seeking a sterile processing technician to join the hospital's central supply team. Under supervision, you will sterilize, inspect, package, and disinfect surgical instruments and supplies for use across inpatient and OR suites.

You will monitor sterilization processes, maintain par levels, and coordinate with surgical teams to assemble case carts per surgeon preferences, ensuring availability of implants and equipment for each patient.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Completion of medical terminology course preferred with strong communication.
• Computer skills.
• Completion of the 120-day orientation with department/hospital standards and continuing education.

Under general supervision of the Coordinator/Manager/Director, performs the following responsibilities:

• Cleans, inspects, assembles, packages, disinfects, and sterilizes all surgical products used in inpatient, outpatient, operating room, emergency room, delivery room, and satellite departments.


• Documents and monitors all sterilization processes (steam, ETOH, Sterrad, and high-level disinfectants) to ensure compliance with established standards.


• Receives, unpacks, shelves, and stocks supplies while maintaining appropriate par levels and rotation principles for sterile supply management.


• Coordinates with surgical specialty teams to prepare procedure-specific case carts according to surgeon preference cards, ensuring all necessary supplies, equipment, instruments, and implants are available for each patient.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• High School graduate or equivalent.


• Completion of medical terminology course is preferred. Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients and hospital personnel.


• Computer skills.


• Completion of the 120-day orientation:

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED

• Central Service Certification.

Schedule: 2:00pm - 10:30pm (Afternoon shift)
40 hours per week
