Job summary

Memorial Hermann Surgery Center, Southwest is seeking a Pre Admissions Nurse to coordinate nursing care, assess data, and develop a care plan in collaboration with patients and their families. You will implement interventions, evaluate progress, and document outcomes, ensuring age-appropriate care from infancy to geriatrics.

The role emphasizes teamwork, strong communication, and adherence to aseptic techniques, with a focus on patient safety and quality in a surgical setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Minimum 2 year experience in a hospital setting
• Ability to recognize, evaluates, solve problems and correct errors.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, hospital staff, physicians, vendors and the public.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Demonstrates accountability, professionalism, openness, receptive to change, creativity and innovative.
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to adapt to change quickly, strong knowledge base relative to surgery procedures and management of the surgical patient
• Understands principles of aseptic technique and their implementation
• Ability to care for patients from infancy to geriatrics
• Excellent teaching skills
• Basic knowledge of Performance Improvement ideology

Responsibilities

• Coordinate nursing care for pre-admissions in collaboration with the patient/family and interdisciplinary team.
• Assess data to determine nursing diagnosis, expected outcomes and plan of care.
• Identify interventions to attain outcomes, implement and evaluate progress.
• Document the process and ensure sensitivity to age-specific needs of patients and families.
