Job summary

Deschamps-Braly Clinic in San Francisco, CA is seeking a Surgical Physician Assistant to join our plastic and craniofacial team on a full-time, on-site basis. The role focuses on facial gender affirmation surgeries, supporting surgeons in the operating room, and coordinating patient care from pre-operative assessment through recovery.

Qualifications

Role Description

The Surgical Physician Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in San Francisco, CA, supporting plastic and craniofacial surgical procedures with a focus on facial gender affirmation surgeries. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting in the operating room, performing pre-operative and post-operative assessments, managing patient care plans, and coordinating with surgeons and clinical staff to ensure safe and efficient care. The role involves conducting patient histories and physicals, educating patients and families on procedures and recovery, and monitoring patient progress throughout the surgical journey. The Surgical Physician Assistant also contributes to clinical documentation, maintains adherence to safety and regulatory standards, and participates in continuous quality improvement initiatives within the clinic.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Medicine, with demonstrated competence in clinical decision-making and evidence-based practice.
• Proven skills in Patient Care, including comprehensive assessments, patient education, and compassionate, inclusive communication.
• Experience in the Operating Room environment, including sterile technique, perioperative support, and collaboration with surgical teams.
• Background in General Surgery and Surgery, preferably with exposure to plastic, craniofacial, or gender affirmation procedures.
• Current Physician Assistant license in California, NCCPA certification, and compliance with all state and federal regulatory requirements.
• Prior experience in surgical or outpatient specialty settings; plastic or craniofacial surgery experience is highly desirable.
• Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, detail-oriented setting, with strong organizational and time-management skills.
