Dignity Health Medical Group - Sequoia is seeking a Surgical First Assist Physician Assistant in California. You will provide in OR first-assist coverage, with a focus on Orthopedics and expansion into General Surgery and Urology as the program grows.

As a proactive clinician, you will support surgical excellence, patient safety, and cross-functional teamwork, bridging clinic and operating room and helping to expand capacities across multiple disciplines within a premier facility.

Qualifications

• Board-certified PA with active licensure in California.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• At least 1 year of recent surgical experience.
• Ability to close deep dermal surgical incisions.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert surgical first-assist coverage in the OR, primarily for Orthopedics, with expansion to General Surgery and Urology.
• Close surgical incisions across deep dermal and subcuticular layers using advanced suturing techniques.
• Position patients correctly and safely for orthopedic procedures.
• Manage pre-, peri-, and post-operative patients to optimize readiness and recovery.
• Collaborate with surgeons and staff to increase throughput and enhance patient experience.
• Partner with leadership to grow surgical volumes across service lines.

As a Surgical First Assist Physician Assistant (PA), you will join Dignity Health Medical Group - Sequoia, supporting our surgical services and driving the expansion of surgical volumes across multiple disciplines

You will provide comprehensive surgical and clinical support, with an initial focus on our Orthopedic program. This role offers the unique opportunity to bridge the gap between clinic and operating room, helping to grow surgical capacity not only in Orthopedics, but also expanding your scope to support General Surgery and Urology as the program evolves.

• Provide expert surgical 1st assist coverage in the operating room, primarily for Orthopedics, with expansion into General Surgery and Urology.
• Expertly close surgical incisions across deep dermal and subcuticular skin layers using advanced suturing techniques to promote optimal wound healing and minimal scarring.
• Independently position patients correctly and safely for various orthopedic surgical procedures.
• Manage new, pre-operative, and post-operative patients within the clinic setting to optimize surgical readiness and recovery.
• Collaborate with surgeons and multidisciplinary staff to streamline workflows, increase surgical throughput, and elevate the patient experience.
• Partner with leadership to identify and implement strategies that grow surgical volumes across the service lines.
