Job summary

The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI is seeking a Part-Time Patient Care Technician to support perioperative teams. You will help prepare the operating room, assist nurses, move supplies, and transport patients and blood products as needed.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent attendance record.
• Must be able to perform a wide range of physical activities which include moving, transporting and positioning patients and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain room cleanliness prior to and following surgical procedures.
• Assist with preparation of operating room including retrieval of monitors and specialty beds, and related equipment for surgeries.
• Assist nursing staff in preparing patient for surgery including lifting, positioning, prepping and additional duties as directed by the circulating nurse or manager.
• Delivery of blood products and specimens to appropriate location(s).
• Return instruments and unused supplies at case completion or when cases are cancelled.
• Assist with transportation of patients as needed including retrieval of beds and stretchers, transport patient from unit to OR as needed.
