Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to receive, label, and distribute clinical specimens at The Brigham and Women’s Hospital. You will verify patient information, accession samples into the LIS, prepare specimens for testing, and help maintain inventory.

The role requires basic laboratory knowledge, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and in a team within a 40-hour week onsite at 75 Francis Street, Boston MA. Pay ranges hourly with standard benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or high school diploma required; related field preferred.
• 1–2 years experience in a laboratory/healthcare setting preferred.
• Knowledge of basic laboratory equipment and terminology.

Responsibilities

• Receive, label, and distribute clinical laboratory specimens including blood, urine, and tissue samples.
• Verify patient information, accession samples into the laboratory information system, and prepare samples for testing.
• Monitor and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment.
• Follow procedures for specimen handling, storage, and disposal.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the laboratory area.
• Adhere to safety and quality standards including PPE use and proper waste disposal.
• Collaborate with laboratory staff and healthcare providers to ensure timely specimen processing.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by laboratory management.

Education

Associate’s Degree or Related Field preferred or High School Diploma or Equivalent required

Experience in a laboratory or healthcare setting (1-2 years preferred)
