Job summary

Community Hospital is seeking a Full Time Surgical Orderly to join a compassionate team in Oklahoma City. The Orderly will support the surgical department, help with surgery flow, and ensure supplies and cleanliness are maintained to support patient care.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and CPR certification, with strong communication and organizational skills. Duties include room turnover, waste disposal, and assisting with patient care under RN supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• CPR certification is required.
• Excellent communication skills are essential for patient interactions and teamwork.
• Ability to adapt to change quickly and support surgical procedures as needed.
• Basic knowledge of continuous quality improvement (CQI) ideology is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Assist with room turnover and preparation for following procedures in a timely manner.
• Collect and properly dispose of all wastes, including biohazardous materials.
• Assist with limited patient care in the operating, recovery, and procedure rooms under RN supervision.
• Order and stock supplies for assigned areas.
• Participate in weekly/monthly cleaning and infection control activities.
• Assist with pre-operative transport and patient flow.
• Assist with safe transfer of patients to gurney and basic equipment maintenance.
• Support with routine care, maintenance, and troubleshooting of designated equipment.
