A leading healthcare provider in Chattanooga seeks a Radiologic Technologist to support surgical procedures through expert imaging care. The role requires operating advanced x-ray technology and assurance of patient safety while working in dynamic environments. Candidates must be ARRT certified with at least two years of experience.
At Erlanger Medical Center, our Radiologic Technologists play a vital role in delivering expert imaging care to patients in the Operating Room, Endoscopy Units, and Perioperative Areas. In this dynamic position, you'll utilize advanced x-ray technology to support surgical procedures across various service lines while also stepping in to assist during select procedures when needed. Your expertise ensures precision imaging, enhances surgical efficiency, and contributes directly to exceptional patient care.
Position Summary:
The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide comprehensive radiology and technical support in the Operating Room, Endoscopy Unit and Perioperative areas appropriate to the age of the patient seen in the select areas assigned. This includes performing a variety of procedures with a vast array of x-ray producing equipment to surgical service lines, as well as occasionally second assisting. The employee must know and understand the concepts of sterile techniques, patient position, radiology safety as well as prioritize functions based on volume and activity. The employee must recognize emergent situations and act promptly and appropriately based on the patient's needs. The employee sets up equipment and room as needed for exams, and makes sure equipment is properly cleaned and stored after each exam. The employee effectively operates portable x-ray/fluoroscopy/c-arm/CT machines to produce quality images for Surgeons and Radiologists to analyze and print film as requested.
The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures. This is done through evaluation of direct supervisor by direct observation, in a skills lab, or discussed verbally or written. Competency can also be evaluated by a formal peer review process and/or by self assessment based on objective criteria that is reviewed and validated.
Education:
Required:
A graduate of an ARRT approved radiologic technology program (compliant with all continuing education mandates).
Preferred:
AS Health Science in Radiologic Technology
Experience:
Required:
Two years of experience as a Radiological Technician.

ARRT certified and compliant with all continuing education mandates, or
ARRT registry eligible- must complete within one year of hire.
BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and maintained going forward.
