Job summary

Holy Cross Health in Germantown, MD seeks a Registered Nurse-Surgery (OR RN) for a full-time day shift. The role requires scrub and circulating responsibilities in the operating room, pre-operative assessments, and coordination of the care plan for surgical patients.

Responsibilities include collaborating with the surgical team, monitoring patient status, assisting with specimen handling, and educating patients and families.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree (with requirement to obtain a BSN/MSN within a specific time frame)
• Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• At least 1 year of nursing experience in a surgical setting (scrubbing and circulating)

Responsibilities

• Using the Quality Caring Model, demonstrates nursing process to plan and manage care of routine patients
• Collaborates with surgical team to develop individualized care plans
• Perform pre-operative assessments and admission procedures
• Perform scrub functions including instrument handling during procedures
• Perform circulating functions including monitoring and communication of patient condition
• Monitor patients' vital signs and ensure safety and comfort throughout the surgical process
• Assist with specimen collection, processing and documentation
• Educate patients and family on care plans and continuum of care
