University Hospital in Newark, NJ, is seeking a Physician Assistant to assist in direct patient care under a physician’s supervision. You will collect medical data, provide patient education, and assist in procedures and post-operative care.

The role involves rounds, operating room assistance, wound care, and follow-up in outpatient settings. NJ licensure, NCCPA certification, and a CAHEP-approved PA program graduate are required, with clinical experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in health science or related field.
• Graduation from a PA program approved by CAAHEP is required.
• Certification from NCCPA.
• New Jersey licensed from the State Board of Medical Examiners.
• Prior experience in clinical medicine is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in routine outpatient needs and answer patient questions.
• Assist in initial outpatient patient assessments, including admin and clinical data collection.
• Prepare History and Physicals prior to surgery.
• Perform daily rounds with surgical residents and aid in orders and treatment plans.
• Educate patients and families as part of the care team.
• Assist in the operating room, positioning patients and assisting with surgery when needed.
• Provide wound care, dressing changes, drain management, and sutures removal.
• Follow up on outpatient care, order post-op tests as appropriate.
