Job summary

Portsmouth Regional Hospital is seeking a Clinical Nurse Educator to lead evidence-based educational activities for nursing and clinical staff. You will partner with the Director of Clinical Professional Development and hospital councils to shape quality care and professional practice.

The role emphasizes onboarding, competency development, and ongoing learning, with travel up to 25% to support programs across the system. RN licensure and BLS are required; MSN preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing is required.
• Master’s degree in nursing is preferred.
• Minimum 2+ years in clinical education, CSC, academia or leadership preferred.
• Minimum 2+ years in acute care hospital preferred.
• Current RN license in state of practice or compact state license required.
• Nationally recognized specialty certification preferred.
• Basic Life Saving (BLS) required.
• Ability to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Participates in onboarding and orientation program development for nursing and healthcare personnel.
• Provides orientation/onboarding programs to promote employee retention.
• Collaborates with the Director of Clinical Professional Development to adjust programs based on evaluation results.
• Develops, coordinates, and manages competency activities.
• Designs educational activities addressing practice gaps for diverse audiences.
• Plans content delivery to engage learners and achieve outcomes.
• Promotes evidence-based practice to improve care and conducts or supports research and QI.
• Identifies opportunities for lifelong learning and staff skill advancement.
• Monitors staff progression using the novice-to-expert continuum.
