Job summary

Cincinnati Children's is seeking an experienced Circulating/Scrub Nurse to join our OR team. This full-time role involves both circulating and scrub responsibilities, supporting patient advocacy, team coordination, and safe intraoperative care. Expect 36 hours per week with day shifts and on-call duties, based in Location G.

Compensation ranges hourly based on nursing experience. Minimum requirements include RN licensure with 1+ years in OR settings; 2+ years in related disciplines; and

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with 1+ years of circulating and/or scrub experience in an operating room setting.
• 2 years of experience in a related discipline.
• If hired without a BSN or MSN, must enroll in BSN/MSN within 1 year and complete within 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for patients throughout surgery.
• Coordinate care with the surgical team.
• Communicate updates to families.
• Complete intraoperative documentation.
• Perform counts and ensure patient safety.
• Obtain equipment and supplies as needed.
• Transport patients and provide handoff to the ICU team after surgery.
• Prepare and maintain the sterile field.
• Pass instruments and supplies while maintaining sterility.
• Support efficient, safe surgical care throughout the procedure.

Shift/Hours:

36 hours/week, 7am to 7:30pm or 9am to 9:30pm, with on-call

Expected Salary Range:

$37-$46/hour; Salary determined based on years of nursing experience. Receive $7/hr during on-call time.

What You'll Do

As a Circulating Nurse, You Will

• Anticipate surgeon needs during procedures
• Pass instruments and supplies while maintaining sterility
• Support efficient, safe surgical care throughout the procedure

Minimum Requirements

• Registered Nurse with 1+ years of circulating and/or scrub experience in an operating room setting.
• 2 years of experience in a related discipline
• Associate/Diploma prepared RNs from ACEN, CCNE or NLN CNEA accredited institution requires 2+ years of experience. If hired without a BSN or MSN, must enroll in a BSN or MSN program within 1 year of hire date/RN job date and complete program within 5 years of hire/RN job date.

Preferred Experience

• BSN from ACEN, CCNE or NLN CNEA accredited institution or MSN
• Cardiovascular or cardiothoracic OR experience
• CICU or PICU experience

Certified Surgical Technologist

• Foreign graduates must have license validated through TruMerit per Ohio Board of Nursing code for Foreign Graduates.
