Job summary

Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, OH, seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for a combined circulating and scrub role in the operating room. The position offers 36 hours per week with day shifts and on-call duties, typical start times 7am–7:30pm or 9am–9:30pm, depending on schedule.

Minimum requirements include 1+ year of OR circulating/scrub experience and an ACEN/CCNE/NLN-accredited education track; BSN/MSN progress is encouraged. EOE.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with 1+ years of circulating and/or scrub experience in an operating room setting.
• 2 years of experience in a related discipline.
• If hired without a BSN or MSN, must enroll in a BSN or MSN program within 1 year of hire date and complete within 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for patients throughout surgery.
• Coordinate care with the surgical team.
• Communicate updates to families.
• Complete intraoperative documentation.
• Perform counts and ensure patient safety.
• Obtain equipment and supplies as needed.
• Transport patients and handoff to the ICU team after surgery.
• Prepare and maintain the sterile field.
• Set up instruments and surgical equipment.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments while maintaining sterility.
• Support efficient, safe surgical care throughout the procedure.

What You'll Do

This role combines both circulating and scrub responsibilities.

Circulating Nurse Responsibilities

• Associate/Diploma prepared RNs from ACEN, CCNE or NLN CNEA accredited institution requires 2+ years of experience.
• If hired without a BSN or MSN, must enroll in a BSN or MSN program within 1 year of hire date/RN job date and complete program within 5 years of hire/RN job date.

Preferred Experience

• BSN from ACEN, CCNE or NLN CNEA accredited institution or MSN Cardiovascular or cardiothoracic OR experience.
• CICU or PICU experience.
• Certified Surgical Technologist.
• Foreign graduates must have license validated through TruMeritTM per Ohio Board of Nursing code for Foreign Graduates.
