The Coding Specialist II supports accurate, complete, and consistent coding practices to produce quality healthcare data. The role involves coding surgical cases (PSS, SGM) using ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, CPT codes, and modifiers, aiming for optimal reimbursement. Flexibility to float to different coding areas as needed, excluding inpatient cases.

Minimum Responsibilities and Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), and/or CCS or CCA certification required.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT classification systems, including the ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting.
  • At least one year of related medical record coding experience in an acute care environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience coding with an encoder and proficiency with Windows-based applications.
  • Ability to adapt to policy and procedure changes and maintain accuracy and independence.

This is a fully remote position requiring Monday-Friday availability.
