Job summary

The Surgical Clinic (TSC) in Middle Tennessee is seeking a Float Medical Assistant to support patients and physicians across our clinical sites.

This role requires travel to different locations to cover clinics in need, with a focus on patient care, triage, and efficient workflow.

The ideal candidate has an MA or LPN license and experience with electronic health records, plus proficiency with Outlook and Word.

Qualifications

• Current LPN or Medical Assistant license preferred.
• HIPAA and OSHA compliance knowledge.
• Experience charting in an electronic health record (eClinicalWorks preferred).
• Proficient with Microsoft Outlook and Word.

Responsibilities

• Assist physician in clinical office setting to ensure patient care.
• Triage patients and provide assistance during in office procedures.
• Obtain vital signs accurately, understand normal vs. abnormal, and escalate as needed.
• Collect, label and document lab specimens.
• Obtain documents from various EHR systems for results and reports.
• Schedule interventions such as imaging, surgeries, labs, etc.
• Obtain prior authorizations when needed for tests and/or surgeries.
• Send referrals and maintain communication with community partners.
• Communicate with patient’s care team for new orders or facilities.
• Triage patient phone calls and communicate provider instructions accurately.
• Provide patient education for tests, pre/post-surgical care, medications.
• Contact patients regarding test results; communicate with pharmacies as needed.
• Document in EHR of all patient care; maintain stock of meds and supplies.
• Keep patient rooms and nurse station clean; sterilize instruments.
