Job summary

Piedmont Macon Medical is seeking a qualified Surgical Technologist/First Assistant to support operative and invasive procedures. The role requires scrub tech duties, sterile preparation, and collaboration with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and efficiency.

Applicants should have graduated from an accredited surgical technologist program, have 3 years of perioperative experience, and hold CST and BCLS certifications, with appropriate first assistant qualifications.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program.
• Completion of didactic and clinical components of the First Assistant program or competency verified by a sponsoring Piedmont surgeon during the orientation period.
• 3 years perioperative services experience.
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist required.
• BCLS - Basic Life Support required.
• CSA/CSFA/SA-C or equivalent certification required.

Responsibilities

• Functions as a first assistant during operative and other invasive procedures in accordance with credentials, privileges, experience, education and competency verification.
• Assists OR staff in the assigned room/case.
• Prepares and provides the required sterile instruments, supplies and equipment in the role of scrub tech.
• Maintains the sterile field and anticipates and responds to the needs of the surgical team.
