Candidates should have an accredited surgical technologist program, completion of First Assistant training, and 3+ years of perioperative experience, plus CST and BCLS credentials or equivalent certifications.

Qualifications

• Education and certification requirements for perioperative staff.
• Experience in surgical settings and first-assistant responsibilities.
• Must have CST and BCLS certifications and equivalent CSA/CSFA/SA-C credentials.

Responsibilities

• Functions as a first assistant during operative and other invasive procedures in accordance with credentials, privileges, experience, education and competency verification.
• Assists OR staff in the assigned room/case.
• Facilitates the operative or other invasive procedure by preparing and providing sterile instruments, supplies and equipment in the role of scrub tech.
• Maintains the sterile field and anticipates and responds to the needs of the surgical team.

Education

Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program

Completion of didactic and clinical components of the First Assistant program or competency verified by a Piedmont surgeon during the orientation

3 years perioperative services experience

CST - Certified Surgical Technologist

BCLS - Basic Life Support

Certified surgical assistant (CSA), CSFA, SA-C or equivalent
