Job summary

Inova Alexandria Hospital in Alexandria, VA is seeking a dedicated Surgical First Assistant to join our team. This full-time position offers day shifts on a 40-hour week, with options for two 7:00am–3:00pm and two 7:00am–7:00pm shifts or five 8-hour shifts, plus on-call nights, weekends and holidays.

We provide competitive pay based on experience, a sign-on bonus, relocation assistance if eligible, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental and vision coverage, retirement

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical First Assistant program or equivalent surgical training.
• Minimum 1 year as Surgical First Assistant or 2 years as Surgical Technologist.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association required at start.
• Virginia licensure as Surgical Assistant required on start.

Responsibilities

• Assists surgeons by providing safe, efficient intraoperative care.
• Guides and mentors teammates as a clinical resource.
• Collaborates with the health care team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Adheres to standards, guidelines and care pathways.
• Uses data to improve care and outcomes.
• Demonstrates teamwork and respect for other disciplines.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.
